CityU Veterinary Medical Centre

CityU-VMC is clearly a top notch pet hospital - clearly a step up from the neighbourhood clininc in terms of services offered, their depth of understanding and specialists available. Honestly I feel like they will get better care here than most humans at hospitals. That being said, you'll also have to pay the price. So we came got referred to a specialist at Cityu-VMC to see prof Slunsky for both Missy (Spine / nerve issue) and Miffun (orthepedics). Our booking was early and we didn't have to wait at all. The location is huge, on the second floor (~18 consultation rooms). We were greeted by Prof. Slunsky and 3 other trainee vets - this is part of their training process. They inspected each of our dogs, the trainees did the initial consultation and observation, Prof. Slunsky did the full orthepedic examination. Overall they were very professional and took around 30 minute per dog. This was much more through than our usual vet as this was a specialist consultation. Due the nature of our dogs, we had to schedule a follow up examination and x-ray to determine the issues. The specialist consultation was $1900 per dog for just the observation. The following up trip was also $1900 for the follow-up visit. We were referred by our usual vet, booking was done via phone and confirmed via whatsapp - this process was easy.

New Town Plaza

Huge Update: Pets are now allowed on Ground floor provided they are on a leash - this is a new policy that took effect to make this mall more pet friendly. We saw quite a few dog corners where dogs owners hung out with their dogs inside the Mall. They can now walk on G - Floor (and only Ground floor, every other floor requires leash) with and leash and without a stroller (no requirements for dog diapers). That being said there are a lot of people in this mall on weekends so parking is hard to get after 12 noon - we've seen quite some long lines. In terms of food - the mall supports restuarants with mall access and FEHD licenced restaurants see the photo for more info). Some restaurants can allow pets to come on the side of the table facing the mall - so technically it counts as pet outside the dining area. Note that all other floors still require dogs to be in strollers. So it's a very mixed policy - a step in the right direction.

ASK FOR ALONZO

They needed the dog license to be shown on all dogs and there are quite a few restrictions. Make sure you have a copy of our vaccine records or have the IAMSMART app with the dog licences so they can verify and check - this is not neigotiable. Not too crowded. .

Victoria Peak Garden

So this is one of the best "hidden" parks in Hong Kong. Normally people stop by peak plaza and stop there - but you can drive or walk up (the part is located past the one way roads and there is a small parking lot on top. Most people don't venture up here so it's far less busy and there is plenty of space for dogs to run around. Even taxi drivers will have trouble finding this place as it's lesser known. Once you're up there there is a nice pagoda and plenty of space for dogs to run around.

Pacific Place

Very good mall for stroller dogs - plenty of space and nice restaurants. It's not as super popular for dog owners mostly because of the location as it's very busy on weekdays, but on weekends it's great. The parking isn't cheap, but there is plenty of space.

The Mills

Mills is very very dog friendly and we see a lot of people walking their dogs on the weekends. People love this place because you can walk your dogs inside the mall - no stroller required. Dogs need to be leashed and there are a lot of clean up crews to help in case of an oopsie. We see both small and large dogs.

Hopewell Mall

they completely revamped the hopewell mall this year to make it dog friendly. Dogs can walk in the floor on a leash and I've seen dogs take the escalator. The place isn't too busy as its slighly more expensive but it's a great place to go on a rainly day.

Two Point Zero Cafe & Bar

So these guys are great because they have a small area for dogs to run around play - this area requires diapers but dogs can unleashed. There are dining tables in this area but you MUST book ahead of time and you must book a time slot - they are very crowded on weekends and make sure you have a booking ahead of time. Also the time slots are strict - so if you go 11-1pm you must leave by 1 pm. What makes it worth it is your dogs can free roam in the enclosed area and play with other dogs. Missy and Muffin can't stand the heat, so an indoor play area during the summer is a must.

Stanley Plaza

Great place to walk around - the mall itself is very dog friendly with loads of dog stores. The only problem we found is with the lift system - it gets crowded so if you have a dog stroller it's harder to navigate. Bigger dogs that can climb up stairs will have a much better time. If you go you can walk along the seaside with your dog and there is a nice pier for dogs to just chill and lounge.

West Kowloon Art Park & Pet Zone

This is one of the largest parks in Hong Kong and it's very dog friendly unlike other LCSD run parks. In the larger field areas there are plenty of dogs that run off leash (small to medium dogs) and generally the guards don't care. The harbourfront area usually it's best practice to walk the dogs on leash. There are plenty of people who tent and picnic on the grass and it's really fun. There is a dedicated dog park area that is in a small corner and most people don't go there and choose to walk in the main area instead.

Kai Tak Runway Park

We like this park because it has an outdoor area and also an indoor area on the lower level to walk dogs - this is perfect for hot summer days when it's very hot we'll go and walk in the covered walkway with the option to go on the rooftop level if it's not too hot. It's also great on rainy days as the dogs can just walk in the covered walkway. It's never too busy as this park is not very accessible without a car (the buses are infrequent) - so it's great for car owners. There are small sections with grass where dogs can run around but the area isn't too big. The parking is relatively cheap - however there are not parking deals for spending here. Since this is an operating cruise terminal, the are occasional cruises here, but most people don't venture to the park area so it's not crowded. Also it's not a popular destination for photos (unlike West Kowloon which is crowded with kids taking graduation photos). The Chinese restauarants here are mostly geared for tourists, so the only real place to eat here is Cafe 2.0 (two point zero) and you have to make a booking beforehand (check their IG, sometimes they do events).

Good seating they provided a location near at the corner of the mall and with enough space for stroller. There was a line so you might have to wait on weekends

KOKO Coffee Roasters

So KOKO Roasters has two areas 1) "Outside" is outside the cafe and they have picnic tables set up inside the mall - this is where most diners with dogs eat as this area is large and dogs can roam around on a leash. There is ample room for strollers and it's very clean. To eat here KOKO provides disposable plates and cutlery - I guess since the area is technically outside they don't want to provide you with proper plates. There is a large bin there where you can dispose of all your trash and also dog diapers etc. 2) Inside the Cafe there are some tables and high stools.
