Where Hong Kong dog owners ate in August, and what they found

A real dog at a real table tells you more than a polished photo. We pulled dated visits from the Hong Kong dog-friendly restaurants Facebook group and added details to each DogDogHK venue page.

Every tip below is a community snapshot from August 2026. The directory was refreshed on 12 August with the current FEHD list and the newest visits.

New visits and policy changes, 10–12 August

• KiKi Noodle Bar at Hysan Place: friendly staff and free choice of indoor seats on this visit. The dog remained leashed and off the tabletop.
• Marina Kitchen at Ocean Park Marriott: the licensed pet zone was full even on a weekday. Staff were friendly and the meal was good, but the air-conditioning felt weak in the heat—reserve and ask about cooling.
• THE COFFEE ACADEMICS on Johnston Road: a slow tram-side stop with community-reported hours of 08:00–18:00 and seat choice except at the bar.
• Lung Tong Fong: five partitioned pet tables at the back, with pet cleaning supplies and pee pads. The steamed rice and desserts beat the soup in this visit.
• MYTH JOKBAL: the latest diner praised the warm staff and their willingness to coordinate with the kitchen.
• Menya Yamashita in Sheung Shui: a newly added ramen shop. The dog sat beside the entrance; keep the lead close when people pass. Food was generally good, though the diner would skip the Angus beef.
• 有得餃 in Yuen Long: restored to the directory after a repeat visit and a fresh check of the FEHD list. The Shiba sat indoors; the regular recommends the dumpling sauce.

Two warnings matter more than a pretty photo. Subtle Island received a warm review for food, staff, air-conditioning and comfort, but the same post said it would only operate through August 2026—confirm it is still open. POKEGREEN in North Point remains on the FEHD list, but a community report says dogs must stay fully enclosed in a bag or stroller, with no head protruding.

At The Wai, Canton House / 悅見 is no longer on the current FEHD dog-entry list, matching a community report that it withdrew its permit. TORITEN / 鳥十 remains listed; the visitor found reasonable space but little dog/diner separation and suggested clearly telling staff how to approach the dog.

Three visits to start with

1. Avanti Pizzeria at Sha Tin Regal Riverside

Avanti Pizzeria leads this batch: visitors described a pet semi-buffet, friendly staff, and a surcharge of lunch plus HK$48 or dinner plus HK$68 per person. Photos show small and medium dogs beside steaks and desserts.

2. LAB EAT at Mong Kok T.O.P

• LAB EAT at T.O.P (5/F) was called out as spacious for dogs, while T.O.P common areas require a leash or carrier. Its pet zone is separate from the Kimberley Road sister, LAB EAT on Kimberley Road.

3. Asura Thai at AIRSIDE Kai Tak

Asura (泰沾麵) appeared in photos with small dogs at a Thai street-food spread. It works for one or two small dogs. Follow AIRSIDE rules on the walk in. PHAYA ASURA at Kai Tak food bay is easier on non-event days.

Coffee, brunch and easy lunches

For lighter meals, Flying Pig Bistro in Sheung Wan offers outdoor seats, Zombie Specialty Coffee in Jordan fits one small calm dog, and Barista Jam in Sheung Wan is quieter on weekdays. BADGERS CAFE in Hung Hom serves all-day breakfast, and Beans at East Point City plus Beans at tmtplaza are mall brunch picks (corridor leash rules apply). PAUSE CAFE in Mui Wo and Espace Elastique in Tai O suit a Lantau finish (the latter tight on tourist weekends). FSTW. COFFEE in Prince Edward is Ada Ng’s pick, with community-reported hours of 08:30 to 19:00.

Proper dinners

EL TORO Steak House & Bar at Ma On Shan WE GO MALL: book ahead for weekend dog dinners. Terrace In Seaside at New Town Plaza L6 carries a strong OpenRice score and FEHD listing (plan the lift). MEDIUM RARE STEAK at Tseung Kwan O Centre is a mall steak stop with active dog-dining chat, and THE BAYSIDE O’THAI Terrace Bistro in Kowloon City is a comfortable Thai terrace for small dogs.

Local comfort food, with a few catches

The Wan Chai branch of Ging Sun Ho King of Bun reports friendly staff, a 50cm daytime height limit, dogs off chairs, and floor mats. The TKO Plaza sister branch has its own setup. Grove in Kowloon City is a Western FEHD listing for medium dogs at weekday lunches. MYTH JOKBAL in Causeway Bay is the Korean jokbal pick (weeknights beat Friday peaks), and Dead Poets in Central works for small dogs on quiet afternoons.

Community-reported only, branch still to pin down

• 平民飯堂 Ping Man Fan Tong: a CeCe Lau visit with a Shiba (dinner and sweet soup); the branch was not identified.
• 深仔記 at 將軍澳中心: a Pik Kwan Ng post on a cha chaan teng and noodle hybrid, dinner plates around HK$60+, bill around HK$110; the shop unit was not identified.

A Wan Chai night out

• Mansons Lot (Swatow Street) has solid food and easy-going staff and sits near Hopewell Centre. wooo (Jaffe Road) is Ada Ng’s pick for large and small dogs. 川燒 Chuan Shao (Lockhart Road) is the night-out first pick for pet owners, The Satay House / 泰國簡單廚房 the value Thai option on Jaffe Road, SHIFT another Jaffe Road option, and Lounge Hakuba (Tower 535, Causeway Bay) Ada’s “pleasant surprise” pick.

At Ging Sun Ho SSP, the chair is off limits

A community comment on Ging Sun Ho King of Bun in Sham Shui Po reported dogs under the table or on the floor only, with staff not enthusiastic about pets. That is a community opinion, not a licence-status change, and branch rules differ from Wan Chai and TKO.

At Science Park, stay inside the shop boundary

Discussion around SENSORY ZERO and Tom Bar + Grill is clear: keep dogs inside licensed shop footprints, because common areas outside shopfronts often post no-dog rules. Use a short leash between buildings and bring the AFCD e-licence.

A permit gets you through the door. A visit tells you the rest.

FEHD status answers one question: are dogs allowed? A dated visit answers where the dog sat, whether a stroller helped, how staff explained the rules, and whether weekend brunch felt realistic. One good post proves a visit happened, but does not promise the same rules next time.
