Older park roundups still describe Runway Park as an open lawn for dogs, but that advice is stale. The strongest government evidence says the site closed in February 2022, and later planning papers continued to describe its future arrangement as under review. Until an official reopening notice appears, do not travel there expecting dog access.

The best nearby replacement is not the same venue: Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Rooftop Park is on top of the terminal at 33 Shing Fung Road. Its operator says it is an Inclusive Park for Pets, open 7am-11pm, with pets leashed at all times.

Kai Tak Runway Park was a 2.82-hectare waterfront park at the tip of the former airport runway and once operated as an Inclusive Park for Pets, where all dogs had to remain leashed. Government records state that it closed in February 2022 for community isolation facilities; this August 2026 review found no official reopening notice. For a current pet-friendly alternative nearby, Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Rooftop Park welcomes leashed pets daily from 7am to 11pm.
