The appeal is the cooler, greener hilltop setting and the chance to turn a garden visit into a longer on-leash walk. Mount Austin Road is uphill, and some garden routes include steps or uneven surfaces. If you use bus 15 or another public-transport option to the Peak area, check the operator's current animal rules before boarding.

Bring water despite the cooler elevation, and avoid disturbing wildlife or picnickers. Mist, rain and low cloud can make stone paths slippery, so shorten the route when traction or visibility is poor.
