AFCD responsible pet owner roadshow in Tai Po: what the June stop covered

A recap of the free 6 June Tai Po roadshow on rabies vaccination, three-year licence renewal, duty of care and responsible dog control.

AFCD animal-welfare information hub

AFCD’s free Be a Responsible Pet Owner roadshow stopped outside Tai Po Complex on 6 June 2026, 11:00am–6:00pm. The theme was simple but important: rabies vaccination and dog-licence renewal every three years.

The pavement event used games and information panels rather than appointments. It was a place to learn what to do, not a substitute for a vaccination or licensing service unless the organiser explicitly said one was operating.

The three documents to check at home

Find your dog’s current licence, rabies vaccination record and microchip details. Check the expiry date and confirm that the registered keeper’s contact information still works. Do this before an emergency, a lost-dog report or travel paperwork makes the gap urgent.

The roadshow also covered duty of care and proper control in public. That means a secure lead, appropriate muzzle rules for regulated dogs, immediate clean-up and a plan that matches the dog’s behaviour—not merely avoiding a fine.

Could you bring a dog?

The official listing invited the public but did not clearly state a visitor-dog admission policy. The stop was on a public pavement, yet crowd and weather conditions still matter. For a future roadshow, ask AFCD directly before treating it as a dog outing.

AFCD updates the same roving exhibition page with new stops. Because old dates may be replaced on that page, check the date, venue, weather notice and on-site services again before leaving.
