AFCD responsible pet owner roadshow in Tsuen Wan: public-place dog rules in practice

The 22 July government-office stop focused on duty of care and handling dogs in public. Here is the practical owner checklist.

Tsuen Wan outdoor atmosphere used for a responsible dog-owner guide

AFCD’s responsible pet owner roadshow moved indoors to the 2/F lobby of Tsuen Wan Government Offices on 22 July 2026, 11:00am–6:00pm. Its themes were duty of care and the dos and don’ts of handling dogs in public places.

What “proper control” looks like on an ordinary walk

Use equipment the dog cannot reverse out of. Shorten the lead before blind corners, lifts and narrow pavements. Ask before allowing greetings. Keep regulated dogs within their legal lead and muzzle conditions. Carry enough waste bags for the whole route and take the waste away.

Heat is part of control too. A lawful lead does not make a midday pavement safe. Move the walk, shorten it or choose shade when the surface and humidity are punishing.

The venue did not make dog attendance clear

The roadshow sat inside a government-office lobby, and the official notice did not state that visitor dogs could enter. Attend without a dog unless the organiser and building confirm otherwise. The lesson is still useful to every owner.

The same AFCD roadshow page is updated with new dates. Confirm the building entrance, public-access rules, weather arrangements and whether the stop is education-only before travelling.
