Ocean Park Members’ Doggy Day: dates, dog rules and accessible areas

Annual members can bring one dog on selected weekdays. Check dates, required documents, allowed areas, Ocean Express rules and Pacific Pier stairs.

Ocean Park is not generally dog-friendly every day. The useful answer is narrower: annual members can bring one dog on designated Members’ Doggy Days, with access limited to named outdoor areas, three dog-friendly dining spaces and a controlled route through parts of the Summit.

Decision Current rule
Who can enter An Ocean Park Annual Member may bring one dog; its handler must be 12 or older. Dog entry has no extra activity fee, but the handler needs valid park admission.
When Selected Monday–Friday operating days until 31 March 2027. The event excludes specific dates, and Gold/Silver membership calendars have their own admission limits. Check your date and tier before setting off.
Dog’s route Waterfront: Aqua City, Lagoon, Old Hong Kong and named dining areas. Summit: Rainforest, Thrill Mountain, Pacific Pier ground floor, and Terrace Café outdoor area. No Cable Car or rides.
Summit access Ocean Express is allowed if the dog is muzzled, in a stroller/bag, or carried. Pacific Pier’s dog route requires stairs; do not plan it as a step-free stroller route.
Where to eat Ginger Grill, Aqua City Bakery outdoor area, Terrace Café outdoor area only, under their dog rules.
At the gate Bring the valid AFCD dog licence, vaccine record and a dog with an identifiable microchip. Dog numbers are capped; entry can become one-out, one-in.

These rules were checked on 25 September 2026 against the current Members’ Doggy Day page and membership tiers. Read the park’s excluded-date list and your membership admission calendar before buying travel.1

What to bring to the entrance

This is not a turn-up-with-a-lead arrangement. Bring:

  • the dog’s valid AFCD licence;
  • a copy or photo of the vaccination card;
  • a dog with an identifiable microchip, ready to be scanned at entry;
  • proof of rabies vaccination and common-disease vaccinations completed at least 14 days earlier, including canine distemper and parvovirus;
  • a leash, drinking water, bowl and waste bags.

Dogs must stay leashed in the park. For a dog over 20 kg, the lead may be no longer than two metres. Dogs classified as fighting or known dangerous dogs need a red or yellow collar, a muzzle and a lead no longer than 1.5 metres; they cannot use the Ocean Express. Staff may refuse or end a visit if a dog appears ill or aggressive, lacks clear chip or vaccine records, or cannot be controlled.

Where dogs can go

The current official route covers these areas:

  • Waterfront: Aqua City, Lagoon, Old Hong Kong, Ginger Grill and the outdoor area of Aqua City Bakery.
  • Summit: Rainforest, Thrill Mountain, the ground floor of Pacific Pier, and the outdoor Terrace Café.
  • Transport: Ocean Express, under its dog rules. The Cable Car is not included.
  • Shopping: Ocean Park says its souvenir shops welcome dogs.

Dogs on the Ocean Express must be muzzled, inside a pet stroller or pet bag, or carried by the participant. That makes the train possible for small dogs, but owners of a large dog that cannot be carried should plan around the muzzle rule before travelling.

Pacific Pier route shown in a community video: stairs ahead

Stills from a community visit video.2 The footage shows one route on one day.

A 14 August 2026 community video adds detail missing from the map. At Pacific Pier, the normal entrance was marked no entry for pets. The visitors used the pet entrance to the right, followed the outdoor ground-level path and looked into the habitat through the windows.

The route passes a seal photo spot, then reaches about four flights of stairs before entering the air-conditioned lower gallery through the exit. The visitors estimated the underwater section at roughly 50 metres and found another no-entry point at the far end. Ocean Park’s own page also labels Pacific Pier as ground floor only and requiring stairs.

For a light stroller and two small dogs, it can work with careful lifting. For a heavy stroller, senior handler, wheelchair user or anyone who cannot safely carry the setup down several flights, treat Pacific Pier as inaccessible unless Ocean Park confirms an alternative route. The video also noted that North Pole Encounter was closed for upgrading during this visit; temporary closures can change.

Can you eat with your dog inside Ocean Park?

Three named spaces currently accept dogs:

  • Ginger Grill;
  • Aqua City Bakery’s outdoor area;
  • The Terrace Café’s outdoor area.

For restaurant access, the dog must be microchipped and have proof of valid rabies vaccination. Ocean Park says an adult must keep the dog on a lead of no more than 1.5 metres or secure it to a designated fixture. Fighting or known dangerous dogs are excluded from these restaurant areas. This is not permission to enter every restaurant in the park.

A realistic outing plan

Arrive early enough for capacity control and do the Waterfront first. Let the dog settle around Aqua City and Old Hong Kong, use a designated dog toilet, then decide whether the Ocean Express and Pacific Pier stairs suit your dog and equipment. Save the Summit for a cool, calm dog; animal sounds, crowds and a train ride can be a lot in one go.

Dog toilets are listed near Aqua City First Aid, Ginger Grill, Aqua City Bakery, the Old Hong Kong entrance, Ocean Express Summit Station, North Pole Encounter, the Cable Car wheelchair entrance and the Pacific Pier exit. Clean up after use and bring your own water bowl.

If Pacific Pier is too awkward, a Waterfront-only visit is still a proper outing. For lunch after the park, browse our dog-friendly places in Southern District, but confirm the individual venue’s current dog policy before travelling.

  1. An older Ocean Park promotion page still shows Monday/Thursday entry. The current event and membership pages checked 25 September 2026 show selected Monday–Friday access and excluded dates. Use the current event page plus your own tier’s admission calendar. ↩
