SPCA SumMeow Festival 2026: the dog rules hidden inside a cat weekend

Dogs were welcome at the 27–28 June Tsing Yi festival, but not everywhere. Here are the rooftop, adoption-area and vaccination boundaries.

SPCA Jockey Club Centennial Centre in Tsing Yi

The SPCA SumMeow Festival ran on 27–28 June 2026, 11:30am–5:30pm at the Tsing Yi centre. Although cats led the theme, the official enrolment terms allowed visitors to bring pets—with precise boundaries.

Dogs were welcome, but not in adoption areas

Visiting pets could not enter the cat, dog or exotic-animal adoption areas. Dogs could access the rooftop with their owners; other pet types could not. Dogs had to be microchipped, hold a valid rabies vaccination, remain on lead and arrive with the relevant vaccination record.

These rules prevent a festival crowd from stressing animals waiting for homes. Do not negotiate at the barrier or hold a visiting dog up to an enclosure.

Summer changes the outing

Late June rooftop heat can be harder on a dog than the indoor market. Use shade, test surfaces, carry water and shorten the visit. Flat-faced, elderly and dark-coated dogs need an especially conservative plan.

If your purpose is adoption, attend without your own dog and focus on the resident animal. If your purpose is a short pet-friendly outing, stay in the designated event and rooftop areas.

The official enrolment terms provide the dates and dog rules used here. Future SPCA festivals may change zones, documents and registration, so use the current event form rather than this recap at the entrance.
