Referrals and emergency arrivals

All VSH medical services have operated from the Kowloon hospital since 1 July 2025. For a planned referral, ask your regular vet to send the referral and existing test results, including the original imaging files where available. Emergency patients can arrive without an appointment and are assessed according to urgency; the clinician on duty may stabilise your dog before the relevant specialist becomes available.

For a planned specialist appointment, VSH asks for cancellations at least three calendar days in advance. Call the appointment team rather than treating an unconfirmed email as a cancellation.

Costs and hospital communication

A referral consultation, further imaging, an operation and intensive care are separate decisions with different costs. Request an itemised estimate and an agreed approval limit before non-urgent procedures. If your dog is admitted, settle who will provide updates, when to expect them and who to call overnight. Ask for a written discharge plan and reports for the vet handling subsequent care.
