When CityU is worth the trip
CityU combines an emergency team, ICU, CT and MRI with surgery, internal medicine, neurology, cardiology and other disciplines in one Sham Shui Po hospital.1 That is most useful when your dog needs several teams or a complex work-up. For a vaccination or straightforward follow-up, a local vet who knows your dog may be easier to return to.
Emergency: call 3650 3200 and use 202 Yee Kuk Street. Patients are triaged by urgency. Tell reception immediately if your dog worsens while waiting. A vet is on site overnight, but a named specialist may review the case later; ask who leads care until then and when you will receive the next update. If another hospital can receive a life-threatening case sooner, follow the emergency vet’s advice on where to go.
Booked care: call 3650 3000, daily 09:00–19:00. Use the Trinity Towers main entrance at 339 Lai Chi Kok Road, near Kweilin Street. Say whether you need general care or a particular discipline; send prior blood results, reports and original scans before a specialist appointment. You can check a named clinician’s authorised-specialist status on the VSB register.2
Costs and admission
CityU’s online booking terms list a HK$100 administration charge per visit. The displayed consultation fee excludes medicines and other services; online bookings require a deposit that is deducted from the bill, with cancellation conditions.3 There is no complete public tariff for ER care, CT, surgery or ICU admission. Ask for the consultation or emergency fee, then an itemised estimate for tests, treatment and any stay. For an urgent case, agree which stabilising steps must happen now and the spending level at which the team should call you.
Before admission, choose one person to receive updates and approve changes. Before discharge, get the diagnosis or working plan, test results and images, drug doses, warning signs and follow-up date in writing. Ask who will send the records to your regular vet.
